To Hold A Rehearsal Or Not; That Is The Question
Many couples are on the fence, so to speak, when it comes down to whether or not they need a rehearsal. I always offer the following question:
Will you, your fiancee and your bridal party benefit from doing a dry run of the ceremony?
Are you still thinking about this?
If you are, you definately may benefit! There are a few things to factor in when thinking about this helpful option.
1- Does your venue make accommodations to you and your fiancee to utilize their facilities for a rehearsal on a separate day than your wedding?
2- Is there an extra charge to the bridal couple to hold a rehearsal?
3- Can you gather your bridal party and any other key people who will be a part of your processional for the ceremony? Or is scheduling one possibly a problem?
4- How many people are in your bridal party? (I suggest that whenever a bridal couple has more than just a Best Man and Maid of Honor a rehearsal is considered.)
5- Would you feel better to have a rehearsal so that everyone knows what they need to do?
As an officiant, I offer my services for the reherasal at an affordable rate. My couples receive the following help from me during a rehearsal:
* co-ordinating with your bridal party, grandparents, parents and any other special relatives and friends with the order of the processional (this is when people walk to the ceremony site);
* co-ordinating with the dj or sound person with music selections and cues;
* co-ordinating with your wedding co-ordinator (either hired or helping hands of a family member or friend);
* placement of bridal party at ceremony site;
* a "run thru" of the ceremony itself, with highlights of the ceremony discussed and practiced.
